We are a specialist church and garden lighting company, trading as AJ Electrics and AJ Lighting. We design, supply, and install lighting for churches and ecclesiastical buildings, and for gardens, landscapes, and architectural outdoor spaces. Everything we do is centred around lighting from initial design consultation through to full installation. We’ve been trading since 1968 and are a family business, now run by brothers David and Stuart Jackson.
Yes, it’s one of our two core specialisms. We work on interior and exterior church lighting, LED conversions, and complete lighting design for ecclesiastical buildings. We have particular expertise working with Listed Buildings and understand the care, sensitivity, and often the additional approvals that these projects require. Our consultants work closely with church teams to cause minimum disruption throughout.
Yes, this is our other specialism. We design and install garden and landscape lighting for residential clients, garden designers, and landscapers. Whether you’re looking to transform a private garden, illuminate architectural features, or light a larger landscape project, we provide a full service from design right through to installation using modern LED technology.
We are lighting specialists, we don’t carry out general electrical work, domestic rewiring, commercial electrics, or any work outside of our two core areas of church lighting and garden/landscape lighting. If you’re looking for a general electrician, we’d recommend finding a local NIC EIC approved contractor.
We offer flexibility here. Whilst we provide a full design and installation service, we can also work on a design, specify, and supply-only basis for garden lighting projects, particularly useful for garden designers or landscapers who want to carry out the installation themselves. Pricing depends on the size and complexity of the project, the specification of fittings chosen, and the scope of work involved, whether that’s design only, supply, or full installation. We are based in Castle Vale, Birmingham, and work across the UK, particularly for church lighting projects, which often bring us to locations nationwide. Our garden lighting work is primarily carried out across the Midlands and surrounding counties. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, just give us a call. Yes. We are proud NIC EIC Approved Contractors, the UK’s leading certification body for electrical contractors, and have been members since 1975, recently celebrating 50 years of NIC EIC membership. This means every installation we carry out meets the required safety standards and is fully certificated.
AJ Electrics was established in 1968, making us a business with over 55 years of experience in specialist lighting.
