Introduction

AJ Lighting provides a specialist garden and landscape lighting design service to garden designers, landscapers and residential clients.

We design complete systems, supply all the required equipment, carry out the installation using our own qualified electricians (if required), and provide commissioning services to ensure that the installed system fulfills the promise of the original design.

Projects range from small courtyards to town gardens, larger country gardens and estates.

Why light a garden?

Having no lighting in a garden limits the enjoyment to daylight hours only, whereas flood lighting a garden creates a flat view with no depth or sense of space and makes using the garden at night an uncomfortable experience.

With careful design garden lighting can shape the view and mood; it can make a small garden seem spacious while a large estate can become intimate.

By lighting a garden selectively, highlighting certain features while gently washing light across paths and patios it is possible to create depth, draw you into the garden and create a comfortable and pleasant area to use at night.

From a practical point of view, garden lighting helps you see where you're walking at night and where any changes in level or hazards are. It permits use of the garden after dark for relaxing, entertaining or strolling, it makes the night time garden an extension of the living space as well as an attractive view from the home.
